SimTek is a molded panel fence that looks like stacked stone and forms a solid screen. In Scottsdale it gets asked about where an owner wants the look and privacy of a masonry wall without footings and block work, for example along a busy road, around pool equipment or on a side yard.
A solid panel carries the full push of a monsoon gust. The system uses steel-reinforced posts, and we follow the maker's post spacing and footing depth exactly, taking the holes into the caliche. The panels are colored through and need no paint or sealer. We still recommend lighter shades in full sun.
Check your association's rules early. Communities that require real block or stucco may not accept a molded panel. A fence over 3 feet needs a Scottsdale permit like any other.
SimTek fences in Scottsdale: common questions
Is SimTek cheaper than a block wall?
It depends on the length, height and site. We price both where both are allowed, so you can compare in writing.
Does it block road noise?
A solid panel reduces noise more than an open fence does. How much depends on the height and on gaps at the bottom and at gates.
Will the color fade in the sun?
The panels are made with UV protection and colored through. Any plastic product ages in desert sun over time, which is why we suggest lighter colors.
